Studio
Sketch: Abstractions #1 and #2 subordinate the necessity of the art
object to the exploration the artist's body and its infinite potential
to physically engage itself with a given set of materials within the
confines of a "studio space".
In Studio Sketch: Abstraction #2, the artist walks around the studio, adjusts the camera, undresses, squats on sheet plastic draped from a painting onto the studio floor, urinates and cleans. Studio
activity here consists of an intuitive interaction between
the artist's body and the surrounding materials: artworks, household
objects, storage materials, and cleaning supplies found in the
studio. The documentation of this studio activity is both
the material and process--the resulting footage is compiled into a
single-channel video.
